Within the framework of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Maka Botchorishvili held a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.
Maka Botchorishvili expressed her gratitude to Volker Türk for the cooperation within the UN Human Rights Council. In turn, the High Commissioner emphasized the importance of Georgia’s participation in the high-level segment of the session.
The discussion focused on the security environment and humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, highlighting the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The significance of engagement within the Geneva International Discussions format was underscored.
It was noted that Georgia will once again present the UN Human Rights Council resolution on "Cooperation with Georgia," which addresses the dire humanitarian conditions in the country’s occupied regions. The necessity of granting international monitoring mechanisms access to these areas was reiterated.
The meeting also covered ongoing developments in Georgia, the security situation in the region, and recent geopolitical dynamics. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation on key human rights issues.
