Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the Holy See Nuncio, Jose Avelino Bettencourt

On 13 April 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Holy See, Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Jose Avelino Bettencourt.

Discussions focused on the important issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Georgia and the Vatican. The dynamics of traditionally friendly relations between Georgia and the Vatican was noted.

Discussions focused on the security environment in the region and across the world. The minister emphasized the difficult humanitarian situation in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia . For his part, Jose Avelino Bettencourt once again confirmed the unwavering support of the Vatican for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.

During the meeting, the sides agreed to continue active cooperation on various issues on the agenda.
