On 8 February 2023, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, held his first meeting with the chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Republic of Iraq to Georgia, Firyal Abdul Nabi Muhammad.
The sides discussed current issues on the agenda of bilateral relations and prospects for further deepening of cooperation. Special attention was paid to the importance of political and trade-economic ties between the two countries, the organization of high-level bilateral visits, as well as the strengthening of the legal framework.
The chargé d'affaires ad interim of Iraq once again confirmed the Iraqi government’s firm support for the territorial integrity of Georgia, within its internationally recognized borders.
