Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia were established on 27 May, 1994.

Within the framework of the meeting, the sides emphasized the Georgian Prime Minister’s successful visit to Riyadh in December last year and outlined plans for the timely implementation of the agreements reached within the visit. Special attention was paid to the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, successful cooperation in multilateral formats and the importance of people-to-people contacts.
Within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
